yesterday was my half birthday. so i made a cake. i saw the cutest idea online about half birthday cakes. i wanted to make one similar to this:
i started making the cake and decided that purple icing would make it fun and exciting. {plus i love purple.} but instead of having a cute cake with purple icing my final product was this:
i made the icing too heavy for the fragile cake. fail. the fact that i added a 3rd tier didn't help either. fail. and the icing turned into a gray-purple. fail. by the picture you can see that i tried to salvage it by holding it up with my hands. fail. although the construction of my funfetti half birthday cake failed, it was quite delicious. win!

mj was up in logan for an alumni concert with her sister tammy and their long-time piano friend adam. they did such a good job. i love hearing them sing.
the performance hall was crowded with the lees and castletons. it was fun.
